A comprehensive reference describing .B explorer output will be provided for the .B explorer 3.4 release. .LP The .B explorer output can be automatically emailed to the explorer database (see the .B -mail option for issues/problems related to emailing to SUN). .LP The .B /etc/default/explorer configuration file is created at the time of installation. It contains customer, user, and system information, as shown in the following example: .LP .RS .TS Customer Name: Vasa_Inc .br Contract ID: CI12345 .br Email results to: explorer-database-apac@sun.com .br User Name: Vasanthan S. Dasan .br User e-mail: proactive@Sun.COM .br User Phone #: 303-272-8019 .br System Serial number: SUN123456 .br Customer ID: SC123 .br Address line 1: 500 Eldorado Avenue .br Address line 2: MS UBRM03-281 .br City: Broomfield .br State: CO .br Country: USA .br Zip Code: 80020 .br .TE .RE .LP The configuration file is used to process the .B explorer output that is emailed to the explorer database. .sp .SH OPTIONS .LP The following options can be used with .BR explorer: .TP \f3\-E10000_return_fru Use this option only when returning an E10000 server failing FRU, and only on the System Service Processor (SSP). .IP This option will generate an electronic version of the "E10000 failure information form". You must answer a few questions. Explorer will guide you through the "return FRU" process. When returning a FRU, you should also execute explorer on each domain (without this switch). You need to email all explorer outputs to the .B explorer database. .IP Note: This option should only be used on the SSP when returning a failing E10000 FRU. For all other cases, including escalations, run .B explorer on the SSP like you would on any other system. .TP \f3\-help Display this information. .TP \f3\-mail Can be used to automatically email .B explorer output to the recipients specified in the .B /etc/default/explorer configuration file. If the .B -mail or .B -myemail option is not specified, email will not be generated. .IP Note: E-mail issue - IP Resolvable Return Addresses (The following workaround is NOT supported.) .IP All e-mail directed to SUN is reverse address checked. If the sender's return address is not a valid, 'reachable' address, the mail is rejected. The system/mail administrator at the customer site needs to modify the domain definition (return address), to match their named, IP routed e-mail address, or verify/allow the resolution and acceptance of the suspected return addressee back through the senders firewall. In essence, the valid, complete, return address recipient would be able to receive e-mail from outside your company firewall. .IP Examples for invalid 'From:' addresses: .IP root@hostname.sun.sun.com <- unreachable outside firewall .br root@hostname <- incomplete address .TP \f3\-myemail \f2email-address\f1 Automatically email .B explorer output to .IR email-address of your choice. Before it is mailed, the file is archived with the tar command, compressed with the gzip command, and encoded with the uuencode command. .TP \f3\-version Display .B explorer revision level. .TP \f3\-target \f2directory\f1 Specify an alternate directory to save .B explorer output. .TP \f3\-verbose Display progress while the .B explorer command is run. .sp .SH REQUIREMENTS .LP \(bu .B explorer requires root privileges to run. .br \(bu root needs write privileges to the current directory. .br \(bu .B explorer works only on Solaris 2.x systems and has only been tested on SPARC architecture. .sp .SH SUPPORTED HARDWARE AND OPERATING SYSTEMS .LP The following hardware has been tested: .LP \(bu sun4m .br \(bu sun4d .br \(bu sun4u .br \(bu sun4u1 (starfire) & System Service Processor (ssp) .br \(bu SC6400 .LP .B explorer supports the following revisions of the Solaris operating environment: .LP \(bu Solaris 2.3 .br \(bu Solaris 2.4 .br \(bu Solaris 2.5 .br \(bu Solaris 2.5.1 .br \(bu Solaris 2.6 .br \(bu Solaris 2.7 .br \(bu Solaris 2.8 .sp .SH MORE INFORMATION .LP For additional information on .B explorer, how to get the latest version, access the explorer-database and more, visit http://explorer-www.corp. .sp .SH ENVIRONMENT .sp .SH ATTRIBUTES .LP
