After the firewall package has been installed, the .B fw.configure utility prompts for necessary input before initializing the firewall. By default, only packets received from the external gateway interface are examined. .LP The .B fw.configure utility installs the following default firewall filtering rules. Anything not covered by these rules will be denied. .TP 3 \(bu allow external access from the gateway's internet interface to 443 port. .TP \(bu allow gateway machine access to anywhere. .TP \(bu allow routing information from the gateway internet interface to pass through. .LP After executing .BR fw.configure , the system must be rebooted for all changes to take affect. .SH ATTRIBUTES Interface Stability: .br Sun Microsystems, Inc., reserves the right to change the interface definitions in a minor release. However, Sun Microsystems, Inc., will make every effort to preserve the minimal interface definitions presented; they were chosen in a hope to fulfill a goal of not changing them. In the future, it is intended that a stronger commitment will be made to these interface definitions, which will guarantee them across minor releases.
